VIVA Mapua!

Image
These are my Mapua pals. The glamoursse. Bunch of pretty faces who found themselves hanging around with each other during vacant periods. Our tambayan inside the campus, we have this long table under a tree. That table is covered by a yellow plastic table cover, a personal choice of Michelle. I wonder, where could she be? O well… Then we were asked to vacate the tambayan. I cannot remember why, o maybe because,we were so loud, we were kikay girls and pa-girls, no dull moment, walang humpay ang tawanan . Marlon the fatso kse is full of kwentos , now he is based in Dubai. He calls me Princess Sarah, taga hawi ng tao pag dumadaan ako.haha! I am happy for you friend, you have found life and love in Dubai. Then we transferred to the garage of the CE Dean and that became our permanent tambayan, with or without the Dean’s car. haha! After classes, you can see all of us in the Intramuros Wall. And what the hell are we doing there? la lang. Yosi, laughter, yosi, laughter, pag-tripan lahat ...

The Art of Juggling

10 Tips For Taming Tension & Stress As a fellow juggler, I don't have to tell you that stress is our biggest enemy. Our technology-filled, fast-paced world has made it possible for us to be alert and active 24 hours a day. But would you want to be? Some of us feel as if we have to keep up. None of us can completely escape the effects of stress (as I am feeling right now as I have made the commitment to get an article out every month and feeling that half the month has gone already. I am stressed-out about what my readers will think of me). However, as Dr. Carlson said," don't sweat the small stuff and it's all small stuff". Thoreau wrote: " I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach." As many of us are not able to live such a stress-free life, following are 10 tips for taming tension and stress. I hope at least one will work for you. 1. Change...

Chicken Soup for the Soul

Image
It was in the year of 1995 when I decided not to continue my Industrial Design course in Mapua. I spent my time, 12 hours from 9am to 9pm in our Video Shop just in front of our house...boring!!!!! I got tired of watching all the tapes (la pa masyado vcd nun e...haha!) over and over again. So what I do is I ask my friends to come over...my friend Annie, always drop by and became my permanent visitor. Annie is fond of reading and she have a collection of nice books. Whenever she has a new book, she always tell me with excitement, "girl, I had this book and it's really nice. I'll lend it to you once I finished reading it..." It was Chicken Soup for the Soul by Mark Victor Hansen and Jack Canfield. Two of America's best-loved inspirational speakers share the very best of their collected stories and favorite tales that have touched the hearts of people everywhere. I'm really not fond of reading books but I kinda like this one. It has 101 Stories to open the hea...

Differences Between Love and Like...

Image
In front of the person you love , your heart beats faster But in front of the person you like , you get happy. In front of the person you love , winter seems like spring But in front of the person you like , winter is just a beautiful winter. If you look into the eyes of the one you love , you blush But if you look into the eyes of the one you like , you smile. In front of the person you love , you can' t say everything on your mind But in front of the person you like , you can. In front of the person you love , you tend to get shy But in front of the person you like , you can show your ownself. You can't look straight into the eyes of the one you love But you can always smile into the eyes of the one you like . When the one you love is crying, you cry with them But when the one you like is crying, you end up comforting. The feeling of love starts from the eye And the feeling of like starts from the ear. So if you stop liking a person you used to like All you need to d...

Can Toddlers Learn Manners?

Image
Are children this young capable of learning manners? Yes, but you have to keep your goals realistic. You'll never get a 2-year-old to chew with her mouth closed. Focus instead on conveying the idea of manners, the concept that there are ways to behave and ways not to behave. If you get this idea across early and often, your child will catch on faster -- and resist less -- when you start adding specifics later. Also, never underestimate the power of setting an example. It may sound simplistic, but the best way to have polite kids is to be polite. If your child consistently hears courteous discourse around the house, that's the way he'll talk, too. How do I start? Trust your instincts . Saying "please" and "thank you" is usually the first bit of courtesy any parent tries to teach, and you can start as soon as your child is using some words to communicate, usually sometime after the first year. It's going to be a long time before he gets "plea...

Summer Activities...

Image
Summer is sun. Summer is plenty of fun. So enjoy it the best way you can. Sundae and salad, sunscreen and lemonade.Pack in for a picnic outing, or a back yard barbeque. Or, plan a getaway to some summer resort and enjoy the nature's hue.If it really gets hot, beat the heat and sweat with a chilled glass of refreshing drink- lemonade or, fruit pulp. Well you can always set up a lemonade standif you want to be creative in making summer beverages. Or, a fruit-tasting offer kiosk. Well, if none of them suits you, just take a break. And cool yourself in a nearby pool. And, if you are quite sporty, you can always pick up the spot offering facilities according to your choice. For instance, a facility to swim, sea surfing or snorkeling. But before that check out the precautions. If you prefer the quietude of a wooded lake, just drift in a paddle boat, or, go in for angling. And don't forget to bring in a fish basket and a loaded thermos. For, the not-so-water-enthusiasts, an idyllic ho...

Those were the days my friends...

Image
I can say that the most wonderful times spent during high school days were with my high school friends...we really had bonded during our junior year when we had this bivouac in San Mateo Rizal, that was way back 1991. I remember, one morning when our commandant whistle for the assembly, everybody was shocked to see all of us coming from that one small tent...even ourselves couldn't believe na nagkasya kme dun...haha! Once in a while, we had our food tripping at gin's place or homer's place or ric's place or jasper's place... la lang... lunch or dinner lang basta nagkayayaan ... The most unforgettable one is our april 14, 2000 trip to mt. makulot, batangas. that was Black Saturday...assembly time is 5:30am, alex was the only one who didn't forget about the time but forgot to take a bath...he was so pissed off to see everybody looking so fresh at 7:00am...haha! Grabe...that mountain climbing is really something...but reaching the top gave all of us a wonderful fee...

"Amen," and in a moment, pope was dead

By Glenn Frankel Updated: 1:42 a.m. ET April 4, 2005 ROME - In his last moments, Pope John Paul II lay in the large but modestly furnished bedroom he had called home for 26 years. His longtime aide, Archbishop Stanislaw Dziwisz, a fellow Pole who for nearly 40 years was as close to him as a son, sat by his bedside and prayed. The pontiff was given the sacrament for the sick and dying. Thirteen other people were in the room -- doctors, nurses, servants and senior clerics -- when at 9:37 p.m. Saturday his heart finally stopped beating. Those are the bare facts of the pope's death as reported by Joaquin Navarro-Valls, director of the Vatican press office. No one who was there has come forward to speak publicly, and much of John Paul's final hours are shrouded in mystery. What few details the Vatican has offered depict a wise and long-suffering pontiff passing into eternity only after pausing to send one last message and bestow one more blessing upon the millions of faithful who fo...
